What is Peitel?
Peitel is a cream for topical use, that is, it must be used on the surface of the skin . It is important that it does not come into contact with the bloodstream, to avoid an overdose of this medication, so its use is not recommended near open wounds.
The active ingredient in Peitel, the thing that causes its effect, is prednicarbate . This recently discovered compound is classified among the medium potency corticosteroids, such as hydrocortisone. This type of medication can be absorbed through the skin and has regulatory effects on the immune response, reducing it and relieving the symptoms that can derive from an inflammatory process, such as that which would be produced by allergies.
Among the anti-inflammatory effects of Peitel, we find its ability to inhibit edema (fluid accumulation), inhibit capillary dilation (regulating the increased blood flow of the inflammatory response, and regulate the activity of the phagocytic cells of the immune system in the applied area.
What is it for
Peitel mainly has vasoconstrictive, antiphlogistic (relieves inflammation), antiallergic, antiexudative and antipruritic (relieves itching) actions. These are characteristics of other corticosteroid medications as well, but Peitel has the advantage of fewer side effects such as skin atrophy.
It is usually prescribed for cases of:
- Dermatitis
- eczema
- Psoriasis
Basically, its use is to stop the exaggerated action of the immune system in areas of the skin , which can occur, for example, in cases of allergy, reducing the effects of the inflammatory immune reaction and with it, the symptoms that it may cause.

How to use this medication
This medication is for topical use only. This means that it is not suitable in most cases for more sensitive parts of the skin, such as the face, armpits or groin and, of course, it is not suitable for use on mucous membranes such as oral or genitalia.
When applying this medication we must do it with dry and washed hands correctly . After use, unless the area that needs treatment is the hands, we must wash them again. This is to avoid contact with delicate areas that we discussed earlier. We must take special care that our eyes, nose or mouth do not come into contact with the medication.
Despite having fewer side effects than other corticosteroids of similar potency, the continued use of this type of medication can end up causing these side effects. We must avoid using it continuously and repeatedly for periods longer than 4 weeks .
Possible side effects and contraindications
This type of medication can cause, especially the first few days of use, before the body gets used to:
- itching
- Stinging
- Irritation
- Dryness
- redness
These side effects are quite common, but if we have been prescribed this medication, it means that our condition brings us greater risk or discomfort than they may cause. Corticosteroid medication can cause allergic reactions, but their severity is usually quite minor (since the medication counteracts the allergic process, reducing or masking the symptoms).
There are more serious side effects of Peitel, such as stretch marks, skin discoloration and atrophy, acne , excessive hair growth in the treated area, or folliculitis. In case of suffering from these symptoms, we should inform the doctor as soon as possible, but their occurrence is unlikely. Side effects from overdose can also rarely occur, especially if the medication has been used inappropriately (too long or on too large areas of skin).
Children are most likely to suffer from the effects of corticosteroid overdose, such as Peitel , which usually present with the following symptoms:
- Exhausted
- Weightloss
- Headache
- Polyuria (we urinate frequently)
- Polydipsia (we are very thirsty frequently)
- Vision problems
Again, if we present these symptoms we must go to the doctor and inform them of our use (mode and period of use) of the medication. It is likely that we have used it for too long or in the wrong way and the prednicarbate has reached our bloodstream, potentially causing serious problems for our health.

conclusion
Despite its possible side effects, Peitel and its active ingredient, prednicarbate, are more modern and safer alternatives to other corticosteroid medications on the market. The appearance of side effects, such as skin atrophy, derived from the use of Peitel does not occur as frequently as when we use other medications of similar potency.
This makes Peitel a safer medication , indicated for long treatments and patients, such as children, who would be more vulnerable to the side effects of this medication.
